The schedule for Wilson’s 2022 general election candidate forums is as follows: Newspaper editors don’t always make the best event organizers, and the library’s involvement and expertise represent a force multiplier that will help the tradition thrive and grow. We’re proud of that commitment, and we’re proud that the forums have found a new home at Wilson’s downtown library, allowing us to feature more contests on voters’ ballots. Since 2017, the Times has organized, promoted and held candidate forums to connect Wilson County voters with those who hope to serve them in elective office. Senate District 4 on April 6, 1st Congressional District candidates on April 13 and Wilson City Council candidates on April 20. The general election forums follow a series of three candidate Q&As the Times held early this year in advance of the May primaries: N.C. Public questions will remain the forums’ focus, but in a change this year, voters will submit their questions in advance and the moderator will read them from the podium. School board members Beverly Boyette (District 5) and Rhyan Breen (District 7) are unopposed in their reelection bids. Jeanne Cuddington is running to unseat Debora Powell in District 1, and Georgina Barbosa will face Chairwoman Christine Fitch in District 3. This Thursday’s candidate forum will feature candidates for the Wilson County Board of Education’s District 1 and District 3 seats. ![]() on each remaining Thursday in September and every Thursday in October in the library’s assembly room. The Wilson Times is partnering with the library to present its 2022 general election candidate forums, and library staff and volunteers came up with a slate of seven question-and-answer sessions with local and state candidates planned for 7 p.m. Wilson County residents will have more chances to hear directly from the candidates running to represent them, and it’s all thanks to the Wilson County Public Library.
